Yin Yoga is slow-paced style of yoga as exercise, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles. Advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more. The poses can be held for 3-10 minutes. Contrary to the belief that Yin Yoga is from China, this concept is taken from the ancient practice of Classical Hatha Yoga – where the poses were held from 3-to 10 minutes. It is important to know that originally Hatha Yoga was practised by monks who were practising yoga as an austere practice.
Bikram yoga is one of the form of yoga popularized by Bikram Choudhury in the 1970s. The Yoga practice involves the same 26 poses in set cycles repeatedly over a 90-minute class. Bikram yoga follows the 80-20 method and the exhalation method of breathing.
